Tired of sitting around in your office desk, waiting for the time when you can clock out so you can finally go home to your family? Do you find yourself worrying a lot about how your kids are doing, or are you raring to change your career path to a place where you’re in charge? If so, why don’t you try being a work at home mom? More and more women these days are opting out of the traditional office set-up to become work at home moms, and a lot of them have met a high rate of success, whether they started blogging for money, managing their own business, or just telecommuting to work.

If you’re thinking about becoming a work at home mom but aren’t sure if it’s the right thing to do, then read on and find out why moms who work at home might actually have it much better than their office-chained peers:

1. Big savings on gas and commuting expenses: How many times have you complained about what a hassle it is to get to work? Although some people can easily walk to their offices, majority of office workers either commute or bring their cars to work, both of which add to a family’s monthly expenses. Commuting is a hassle, and driving a car and paying for gas parking is incredibly costly. One of the best things about working at home is that you won’t have to go through the inconvenience of commuting or driving to your office — after all, your office desk is now in your very own home, literally steps away from where you are.

2. You can spend breaks with the young ‘uns: Moms who work in an office often wish that they could spend more time with their children, especially because they end up getting too tired at the end of each day. Weekends never seem to last long enough, either. When you choose to work at home, however, you get to see your kids more and spend more quality time with them. Take advantage of your breaks by playing with your tots, going out for a short walk with them, or fixing them a few sandwiches and a pitcher of juice. Not a lot of moms can be as lucky!

3. Saving on daycare Now you don’t have to drop off your kids at a day care center and spend the day worrying about how they’re doing, if they’re being taken care of, if other children are being nice to them. Now, you can always have them within earshot, and you can check on them if they’re okay. If you can’t be distracted from work a lot, you can hire a baby sitter from time to time, but at least you won’t have to be anxious about how your kids are doing anymore. And if little Johnny hurts himself or starts crying, at least you’ll be there to make him feel better.

4. You get to explore your strengths, career-wise, and do what you love the best It’s always important to be doing what you love the best, and being a work at home mom gives you a chance to find out more about your strengths and what you’re passionate about. Some mothers find out that they love to make money blogging, while others find themselves enjoying the small business they just put up. Whatever you choose to work on, just be sure that you’re doing what you love, and that you like what you do.

Although working at home isn’t the perfect solution for everyone, some moms thrive when they work away from the office, or when they’ve mustered enough courage to go out there and start their own businesses. Sure, such a move can be very challenging or risky, but if you have a good idea of where you want to go and how you can accomplish your goals, working at home won’t just be a matter of convenience for you, but also a matter of success.
